Michael Movie Review

Michael Movie Review

Michael is a biographical musical drama showing the rise of Michael Jackson. From his young childhood through to his second solo album this film covers it all.

I know the reviews of this movie have been mixed. I however really loved this movie! It was captivating from the start. I cried, I laughed, I danced and sang in my seat. There was three generations of us when we went to see it and all of us came out saying how good it was.

There was so much covered which I didn't know about him. I remembered hearing about his dad being a less than nice person but the way he is protrayed in this movie goes further than that. From beatings and controlling behaviour his father was a person Michael struggled to stand up to.

The pepsi campaign where Michael was injured, although I remember it, I did not know the severity of the injuries.

It explains a lot of Michaels behaviour later on in life. He was lonely and isolated and turned to cartoons, fairytales and animals to get him through life. He related to children more than adults finding them easier to talk to because they didn't want anything from him, just an autograph and chat.

His love of music and performing is at the forefront of the film. It was lovely to see how he used music to bring people together and he didn't need to publicise himself or do interviews because his music was speaking for him.

At the end it did state that "his story continues" so I am hoping there will be a second movie although that will be looking at later life, the scandals, and controversies of his life.

To anyone who has not seen this movie I would highly recommend it.
